These guides are written for Biology teachers and their students and provide a detailed look at one of BC’s icon species, the grizzly bear. Through a series of activities, students follow the footsteps of grizzly bear researchers to explore taxonomy, habitat, population statistics, form and function, behavior and conservation principles.

The Grizzly Bear Biology workshop is designed primarily for secondary biology teachers . The grizzly bear presents an ideal case study for teaching biological principles while engaging students in critical thinking about a wildlife conservation topic. In the workshop, educators will be able to familiarize themselves with the activities in the guides through first-hand experience and demonstrations, as well as discuss applications for teaching.
